Abstract
The role of paracrine signaling by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the formation and maintenance of blood vessels has been studied extensively. In this issue, report unexpected results showing that endogenous VEGF produced by endothelial cells is also crucial for vascular homeostasis.
