  • Abstract
Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)/carbon nanotubes composites prepared by microemulsion polymerization for gas sensor were prepared. Because of the in situ microemulsion polymerization, the more uniform film of composites could be obtained more easily and the electrical properties were also enhanced, compared with the composites from solution mixing of PMMA and carbon nanotubes. The responses of these composites were observed to be reversible by monitoring the change in the resistance of the composite upon exposure to various gases. It was also found that the composite prepared by microemulsion polymerization showed a lower percolation threshold and a higher response.
