Abstract
The fluctuations in the spectra of lattice gauge calculations in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) are now known to be very well described by random matrix theory (RMT). Furthermore, it has been argued recently that lattice QCD ought to have much in common with disordered systems. In this contribution, I summarize the work of our group that addresses this question. In particular, we found the QCD equivalent of the Thouless energy in disordered systems. Motivated by these results we succeeded in merging the supersymmetric approach to disordered systems with the principles of QCD and chiral symmetry. Thus, we answer the question stated in the title in the affirmative. We hope that our insight are useful for the improvement of algorithms in lattice QCD.
