Abstract
We investigate the structure and the optical properties of hexagonally ordered rings of zinc oxide and zinc cadmium oxide, which were produced by nano-porous membranes on silicon substrates. These ‘donuts’ have an average diameter of View the MathML source, they are about View the MathML source high and are View the MathML source apart from each other. The influence of annealing at different temperatures was studied by scanning electron microscopy for structural quality and by photoluminescence spectroscopy for optical quality. Samples with different ratios of zinc and cadmium were investigated. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy proved the assumed composition of the ‘donuts’.
