Abstract
We present a theoretical description of a laser-control photodissociation of molecules. While the Liouvillian formalism is required to describe the creation of coherences by the pump pulse, the effective Hamiltonian method suffices to evaluate the reaction yield of the subsequent photodissociation induced by the probe pulse. In this work, a simple model is examined to see how the vibrational coherences created in the intermediate electronic configuration can affect the photodissociation reaction yield. For this purpose, the dissociation potential has been modeled by a decreasing exponential which enables the evaluation of the corresponding dipole matrix elements and vibrational overlaps. Finally, the vibrational and electronic dephasing processes, as well as the temperature effects, are also included in the theory.
