Abstract
By combining visualization by optical stereomicroscopy and atomic force microscopy with adsorption characterization by inverse gas chromatography, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transformed infrared, and Raman spectroscopic analyses; the suitability of Carbopack C for chromatographic-structural studies was investigated. The determined degree of crystallinity was 90% and the reflections were characteristic of two-dimensional graphite, which generally means that the carbon black has been graphitized at a temperature of about 2500 °C. The specific surface area was determined using benzene adsorption at 150 °C and amounted 1.4 m2 g−1.
