Abstract
The effect the Mo content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of high strength pipeline steel X80 was investigated in the present study. Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were used to investigate the microstructure of the steel. It was concluded that, the proportion of acicular ferrite increased as the amount of Mo content increased, which resulted in the enhancement of yield and tensile strength; on the other hand, the yield ratio decreased and the toughness deteriorated as the quantity of M–A increased.
