Abstract
An experimental analysis was performed to predict flow curves, dynamic recrystallisation behaviour of AZ91magnesium/titanium metal matrix composite based on result from hot compression test. The compression tests were carried out in a temperature range of 300–500 °C and at a strain rate range of 0.001–1 s−1 and the flow curves were obtained. The processing map of the studied material was obtained by following the dynamic material model. Microstructural characterization studies conducted on the compressed composite samples using optical and scanning electron microscopy, revealed dynamic recrystallization, debonding of Ti Particles, particle breakage, and flow localization. The observations were performed in order to describe the behavior of the material under hot forming operation in terms of material damage and micro structural modification.
