Abstract
In order to improve the microwave absorbing properties of hollow-porous carbon fiber (HPCF) composites, a series of HPCF composites embedded with frequency selective surface (FSS) were investigated in this paper. Samples pasted FSS with different element size and locations were fabricated, and experiments were carried out to find the effects of pasted FSS. It is found that both the element size and locations of FSS in the composites are critical for the reflection property of the samples. The −10 dB bandwidth of HPCF composites without FSS is 0 GHz, while that of HPCF composites pasted FSS is up to 10 GHz. The results show that FSS can effectively adjust and improve the microwave absorbing properties of HPCF composites.
