Use of an Enantiomerically Pure Cyclopalladated Complex of (S)-N,N-Dimethyl-α-(2-naphthyl)ethylamine for an Enantioselective Synthesis of a Chiral Diphosphine by an Intramolecular [4+2] Diels–Alder Cycloaddition

The cyclopalladated complex (S)-(+)-bis(μ-chloro)bis[N,N-dimethyl-α-(2-naphthyl)ethylamine-C,N]-dipalladium has been used as a chiral template to promote the intramolecular [4+2] Diels–Alder reaction between diphenylvinylphosphine and 1-phenyl-3,4-dimethylphosphole. The characteristic 1H and 31P{1H} NMR spectroscopic features of the synthesized compounds are described. Crystal structures of three of the newly synthesized palladium complexes are reported.
