Abstract
Slurry jet tests were conducted for pure aluminum, pure copper, cast martensitic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel and cast steel. The flow velocity of the slurry was 10 m/s, the slurry concentration was 1 mass%, and the impingement angle was 90°. Moreover, the particle behavior was calculated using a commercial code for a flow analysis, STAR-CD. The relation between volume loss of material per an impact particle and erosion factors, which are impact velocity, angle, particle size and frequency, was derived from a numerical analysis of the particle behavior and the surface profile at an impingement angle of 90°. The volume loss in the slurry jet test at 30° or less can be predicted by using above relation.
