The present commentary discusses the interplay between the symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder (). Focusing on the need to assess the interplay of the two symptom clusters, the paper presents a model for understanding the etiological and functional relations that could link the symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Further, the paper discusses ways in which a clinician might approach such complex cases in order to address all of the clientʹs needs in an effective and efficient manner.
