Abstract
Measurements of the Gas-Exchange Experiment GasEx-98 that took place in the North Atlantic Ocean from May to July 1998 are used with surface renewal theory to parameterise the temperature difference across the thermal molecular boundary layer of the ocean as well as the gas transfer velocity of CO2. The same parameterisations are used with satellite measurements to calculate basin-wide fields of boundary-layer parameters to obtain a broader overview of the air-sea exchange.
