Adjacency effect of layered clouds estimated with Monte Carlo simulation Original Research Article

Adjacency effect of layered clouds is clarified by means of Monte Carlo simulation. Effects of multiple reflections between cloud side and bottom are also clarified. It is found that the adacency effect increases in accordance with increasing of surface reflectance, cloud reflectance and optical depth of the atmopshere. It is also found that the adjacency effect of the double layered cloud is greater than that of single layer cloud (the top layer cloud of the layered cloud is dominant in this case).
