Abstract
This paper describes the elliptic solver that forms part of the EMX software suite, a package for Electromagnetic Particle-in-Cell simulation in general geometry. The novel algorithm employed is inherently parallel and electrostatic fields are computed for the fully 3D geometry of a multi-stage depressed collector. There is also a description of how the algorithm could be adapted to solve magnetics problems.
