Finite element analysis of the combined extrusion of semi-solid material and its experimental verification

Many products related to the automobile and airplane industries have been manufactured by semi-solid forming. In this paper, finite element analysis of the product of combined extrusion of semi-solid material was performed and its experimental verification using A356 was conducted. The analysis distribution of the solid fraction was investigated and compared with the experimental microstructure in the product. In addition, the distribution of temperature in the product was analyzed by finite element analysis. This paper also presents the forming process of the combined extrusion of semi-solid material.
