  • Abstract
Fe3Al/Al2O3 ceramic composites are some of the novel ceramic composites that have good application prospects as cutting tools and forming dies. In this paper, the effects of different sintering technologies on the microstructure of these composites are compared and analysed, the optical micrograph of the composite sample made by different ratio and hot press sintering technology being observed and studied. The results of experiment indicate that Fe3Al/Al2O3 composites with fine grains, compact structure and good mechanical properties can be obtained at about 1400°C. Furthermore, in addition to the sintering pressure, the content of Al2O3 and the additives of the composites, also have an important influence on their sintering temperature, microstructure and characteristics. When adjusting the factors appropriately, the composites can be sintered at low temperature.
