Abstract
At present, the finite element method generally has been used for the analysis of sheet metal forming processes. It can be classified into many analytical methods according to the technique of application. One of them, the static-implicit method, has been much used because it can obtain comparatively the most accurate analysis results. However, the static-implicit method has brought about a number of unexpected difficulties. In particular, the variable contact conditions caused a number of problems including the problem of stable convergency. Therefore, the static-explicit method was introduced to solve the problems of static-implicit method and it was applied to the drawbead processes in this work. The result of static-explicit method was compared with the static-implicit method for its validity.
