Abstract
Hybrid reinforcement Al-matrix composites with different volume fractions of SiC particles and short Al2O3 fibers have been prepared by press-infiltration. The detailed effects of several parameters such as: the reinforcement volume fraction, the hybrid ratio, the load value, the extrusion ratio and different matrices on wear-resisting properties of these composites have been studied. The results show that with the increasing of the reinforcement volume fraction, the friction coefficient of the composites increases gradually. With the increasing of the Al2O3sf proportion, the wear-resistance decreases slightly, but the friction coefficient remains constant. With the increasing of the load value, the wear-resistance of the composites increases. Under an equal reinforcement volume fraction, the wear-resisting properties of 7A04-matrix composites are better than those of 2A14-matrix composites.
