Abstract
The effect of complex strain paths, containing various sequences of monotonic torsion and monotonic tension and simultaneous deformation in these processes on the behaviour of silicon bronze CuSi3.5 has been examined. The temperature from 20 to 650 °C and strain rate from 0.01 to 1 s−1 was changed. The properties and structure obtained in sequence and simultaneous processes were compared with those gained in monotonic torsion and tension. The silicon bronze containing about 3.5% of Si has very low stacking fault energy, therefore the deformation mechanism in the range of large straining is realised mainly by twinning. The relations between strain paths and deformation conditions and the flow stress and limit strain of investigated bronze has been determined. By proper choice of strain path, the above mentioned properties can be controlled.
