  • Abstract
    The knowledge of stresses and temperature in equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) process is very important, in order to deform the material under the optimal thermo-mechanic conditions and to achieve the desired mechanical properties improvement in the processed material. As one of the main aims of the process is to reduce the grain size of the processed material, by shear deformation, the process temperature should be maintained under control. In this work, temperatures inside both the die and billet are studied. Also, the temperature increases during the process, as a consequence of the deformation, the friction and the heating of the resistors are calculated for different operation conditions by using finite element method (FEM).
