Abstract
A heat diffusion-free model based on the assumption of high Peclet number is used to describe the problem of heat transfer in a creep-feed grinding process. The model uses the basic analysis of a moving heat source. Calculation of temperature in the very near region surrounding the grinding wheel grits is shown. A calculation of the background temperature of the workpiece in terms of the percentage of wear flat area on the wheel and with the inclusion of the coolant effects is also presented. Consideration for film and nucleate boiling of the liquid coolant is taken into account. Effects of heat transfer coefficient and thermal conductivity on temperature are shown. Effect of partitioning of energy is also shown.
