Search for structure in the mass region 2220 to 2240 MeV/c2 in a pp → π0π0, ηπ0, ηη formation experiment Original Research Article

Results of a search for narrow resonances in a View the MathML source formation experiment with the Crystal Barrel Detector at LEAR are presented. The cross sections for View the MathML source, ηπ0 and ηη are determined for annihilation at 9 momenta in the region View the MathML source. No indication for the formation of a ξ(2230) is found. Breit-Wigner fits, assuming a resonance width of 5–20 MeV/c2, yield the upper limits View the MathML source and View the MathML source at 95% CL.
