Abstract
An explicit multi-time step integration algorithm is presented for the element-free Galerkin method (EFGM) for diffusion problems. To partition the problems into subdomains, two different methods are considered: a nodal partition and an integration point partition. Methods of estimating the critical time step for the one-dimensional EFGM are examined and means for estimating the stable time step for the different partitions are considered. Several numerical examples are considered to demonstrate the stability and accuracy of the methods.
