Abstract
Flow characteristics in cuff-like sleeve models were studied using numerical methods. In steady flow, fluid motion in a baseline model resembled flow patterns in conventional distal anastomoses with the exception of a distinct vortex below the heel region at high flow rates. Two other models (with height and diameter increment) were also investigated and it was concluded that a model with height increment was a preferred alternative to the baseline model in improving hemodynamics for the sleeve design.
