Abstract
It has been established that addition of oxides of the rare earth elements (La2O3, CeO2, and their mixtures) increases the thermal stability of the porous structure of highly dispersed aluminum oxide – a secondary carrier of structured catalysts. The greatest stabilizing effect was noted with La2O3. The reason for this effect is the formation of a solid solution of La2O3 in Al2O3 which prevents the diffusion of aluminum ions and slows the transition of low temperature modifications of Al2O3 into high temperature alpha-Al2O3.
