Rising of Electric Bicycle in China Original Research Article

Electric bicycle (EB) appeared in south China since 1997. Within a few years its popularization is just as a storm passing through most China. Electric bicycle (EB) — to install a permanent magnet motor (36 V/180 W) in the wheel center of bicycle and to add a rechargeable battery, electron monitor, with total weight ≤40 kg, speed ≤20 km/h. The running distance per charge is in the range of 40–60 km. Such electric bicycle is suitable for urban transportation in cities of middle scale with population around million. Such EB is extremely welcome in South China in recent year. A brief summary on EB development in China is given in present paper.
