Abstract
1-[3-Deoxy-5-O-(4,4′-dimethoxytriphenylmethyl)-3-C-hydroxymethyl-2-O-(2-methoxyethoxymethyl)-β-d-erythro-pentofuranosyl]thymine (13) was synthesized from 1,2-isopropylidene-d-xylose (1) as a building block of modified oligonucleotides. Three types of novel oligonucleotides were synthesized from 13 and their Tms were compared with those of the corresponding natural oligonucleotides. It was found that our synthesized oligomers had lower affinity to DNA and RNA than the natural oligomers.
