Abstract
Three materials Ce:Li2CaSiO4, Ce:CaBPO5 and Ce:LiCaPO4 were synthesized as polycrystalline samples for scintillation application in neutron detection. Ce3+ optical spectroscopy was investigated. Then, under X-rays excitation, Ce:Li2CaSiO4 and Ce:LiCaPO4 present light yields about 7800 ph/MeV and 5900 ph/MeV, respectively. A self trapped exciton loss mechanism has been evidenced and competes with the cerium emission.
