Abstract
The reduction of (n-Bu4N)[AuIII(dmit)2] electrochemically and with BH4− leads to unstable monomeric [AuII(dmit)2]2− (5d9,S=1/2) which was characterized by X-band EPR spectra of solutions and [AuII/NiII(dmit)2]2− powder samples. For the analysis of the latter the large 197Au nuclear quadrupole interaction must be included.
