Abstract
The reaction of an aqueous solution containing KReO4, KCN, KOH and NH2OH · HCl with Phen (1,10-phenanthroline) produced a light orange product which on crystallization from water or methanol afforded K2[Re(NO)(CN)5] · (Phen)6 · 4.5H2O (1) and K[Re(NO)(H2O)(CN)4] · (Phen)5 · CH3OH · 3H2O (2). In both complexes the metal oxidation state was confirmed by the EPR spectroscopy and the redox behavior was studied by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry.
