Abstract
Reaction of terBuNC with anti-B18H22 in CH2ClCH2Cl gives [7-{(terBuNHCH){terBuNHC(CN)}CH2}-anti-B18H20] in which a reductive oligomerisation of the terBuNC residues has given the complex polynitrogen base {(terBuNHCH){terBuNHC(CN)}CH2:}, formally as a zwitterionic carbene attached to the macropolyhedral {B18H20} cluster.
