Synthesis, structures and luminescent properties of two silver supramolecular isomers with one-dimensional concavo-convex chain and dimer metallacycle

Two silvers(I) supramolecular isomers {[Ag(bbta)(NO3)] · H2O}n (1), and [Ag(bbta)(NO3)]2 (2) have been synthesized in the different solvent systems by using the flexible ligand 1,2-bis(benzotriazol-1-yl)ethane (bbta). 1 forms novel one-dimensional concavo-convex chain. However, 2 contains the neutral dimer Ag2(bbta)2 18-membered metallacycle. The bbta ligands exhibit the anti and gauche conformations in 1 and 2, respectively. 1 and 2 are both the topological isomers and conformation isomers. The luminescent spectra of 1 and 2 in the solid state and in DMF solution at room temperature were determined.
