Abstract
X-ray crystal studies on Ni(II) complexes, [Ni(LI)2](Cl)2(H2O) (1) (LI = diethylenetriamine) and [Ni(LII)](Cl)(H2O) (2) (LII = N-(2-(naphtholate)methine)diethylenetriamine) reveals a new type of hydrogen-bonded chains image, existing in both 1 and 2 as paired M and P helices with 2-fold screw axes parallel to b, and thermal analysis of 1 reveals that the water molecules in chains evaporate at 105 °C accompanied by an enthalpy change of 27.2 kJ mol−1.
