Abstract
The reaction of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O/Zn(NO3)2·6H2O and D-3-(4-Pyridyl)-alanine (Hpyala) without or with 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy) leads to the generation of two new coordination polymers, [Cu(pyala)2]·H2O (1) and [Zn(4-pyridylacrylate)2]·H2O (2). Interestingly, the 4-pyridyacrylate ligand was derived from the in situ deaminization of the D-3-(4-Pyridyl)-alanine under the hydrothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies indicate that 1 exhibits a one-dimensional (1D) chiral chain structure; 2 exhibits 3D framework with 5-fold interpenetrated diamondoid topology, which contains open channels occupied by the lattice water molecules.
