  • Abstract
    The crystal structure of a novel [Cu2(μ3-CO3)(SCN)2(py)4]n complex has been determined. It comprises of [Cusingle bondCO3single bondCu]n infinite chains, running along the a-axis, and is in this aspect similar to the previously described [Cu(CO3)(4-aminopyridine)2]·H2O complex. The FTIR spectrum of [Cu2(μ3-CO3)(SCN)2(py)4]n has been recorded and analyzed. A Cusingle bondCO3single bondCu intrachain coupling between Cu(II) atoms has been found to be responsible for the weak ferromagnetic properties of [Cu2(μ3-CO3)(SCN)2(py)4]n.
