Synthesis of diimineplatinum(II) complexes containing the 1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane(12)-1-thiolato ligand

The novel air- and moisture-stable platinum(II)-diimine complexes containing the 1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane(12)-1-thiolato ligand, [PtCl(1-SC2B10H11)(NN)] and [Pt(1-SC2B10H11)2(NN)] (NN=2,2′-bipyridine (bipy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen)), were prepared by a facile two-step synthesis from the corresponding dichloroplatinum(II) precursors. All complexes were characterized primarily by multinuclear (1H, 11B, 13C, and 195Pt) 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy. The structure of [Pt(1-SC2B10H11)2(bipy)] was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography.
