Abstract
In this study, forced convection flows of nanofluids consisting of water with AL2O3 nanoparticles in a double-tube counter flow heat exchanger are investigated numerically. The test section is modeled and solved using a CFD program. A single-phase model is employed with either constant or temperature dependent properties to study the hydrodynamics and thermal behaviors of the nanofluid flow. The results show with the increase of Reynolds number, heat flux and pressure drop increase in the double-tube heat exchanger. Totally, adding of AL2O3 nanoparticles to base fluid (water) in the inner pipe of heat exchanger, caused to increase of energy efficiency ratio, thus power to pump decrease for a given heat transfer rate.
