  • Abstract
Introduction: this study aimed to investigate the effect of exercise training on state and trait anxieties in treated male addicts. Methodology: in this regard, a number of 50 treated male addicts with earlier dependence on crystal methamphetamine volunteered to participate in the study. The subjects participated in a pretest-posttest design of random groups. The experimental group performed the selected exercise trainings for eight weeks. The state and trait anxieties were measured in the control and experimental groups in both the pretest and posttest using Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Results: the results of two-way ANOVA with repeated measures on the test factor showed that exercise training significantly decreased the symptoms of state and trait anxieties in the experimental subjects comparing with the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: in view of the present findings, exercise training can be considered as an effective non-pharmacological treatment to reduce mental disorders in the treated addicts.
