Abstract
The Monte Carlo (MC) method to obtain the pair distribution function g(r) from a measured total structure factor S(q) in glasses (Ge0.25Se0.75)100−xAgx (x=0, 10, 15, 20, and 25 at.%) is used. A numerical g(r) is generated and randomly modified until the corresponding numerical SN(q) fits S(q). The generated SN(q) is in agreement with the experimental data for all x. In order to study the most probable local order in these glasses, an analytical expression for the area under the first peak in the radial distribution function was used and compared with the MC results. The homogeneity of the glasses is discussed. The Ag coordination changes from 2 (x=10) to 3 (x=15, 20, and 25).
