Abstract
The reactions between metal cluster anions and metal cluster cations containing carbide ligands were explored. In one case, a salt formed which consisted of a cluster cation along with a cluster anion. By contrast, the interaction of [Rh2Cl2(CO)4] with [Fe3(CO)9C2Fe(CO)4]2− produced a new monocarbide metal cluster, [Fe3Rh3(CO)5C]−.
