Abstract
A series of novel silatranes containing ferrocenyl carboxylate were obtained by the reaction of 1-ethoxysilatrane with ferrocenyl carboxylic acids, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H-NMR. The crystal structure of FcC(CH3)CHCOOSi(OCH2CH2)3N and p-FcC6H4COOSi(OCH2CH2)3N was determined by X-ray diffraction. The SiN distances of the two compounds are 2.065 and 2.052 Å, respectively. Both the bond distances are shorter than that of 1-alkyl or 1-alkoxysilatranes and close to that of 1-halosilatranes. The antibacterial activity of p-FcC6H4COOSi(OCH2CH2)3N was determined.
