Abstract
Glass forming region of Bi2O3–GeO2–BaO (BGB) pseudo-ternary system is determined by melt quenching method. Glass density and refractive index decrease as BaO was introduced in the BGB glasses, while Raman scattering intensity shows a contrary tendency. By analyzing the Raman scattering spectra, the structural units existing in BGB network are specified, and the evolution of glass structures with incorporation of BaO is presented.
