Qualitative study on multiplicity of largely deformed elastic half rings

This paper deals mainly with a qualitative investigation on multiplicity of large deformations of an elastic clamped-free half ring, used as grasping and spring element, with a concentrated acting force on its free end. The discussion is based on the relation between transit time and phase curve of a boundary value problem for a pendulum equation derived from the mathematical model describing the deformation of the elastic half ring.
