Abstract
Slag-simulated glasses in the system of CaO–Al2O3–SiO2 were prepared. Their rates of heat liberation were measured in the system with gypsum and lime, especially in the excess gypsum system. They have a period with constant rate of heat liberation. These rates depend on the components of the glass. The effects of the components on the rate of heat liberation were discussed.
tes of constant heat liberation depend on the composition of glass especially the contents of CaO and Al2O3. The period of this process was controlled by the amount of lime addition. During this stage, the solid Ca(OH)2 was completely consumed. In this sulfate-excess system, the reaction equation, during Ca(OH)2 consumption, should be written as; glass + gypsum + lime ⇒ C–S–H with a C/S ratio of 1.42 and Ettringite.
