Abstract
Ni(II)/Ti(IV) carbonate layered double hydroxide with high crystallinity has been synthesized by high supersaturation method. The structure and chemical composition of the compound have been characterized by PXRD, FT-IR, ICP-AES, SEM, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, UV–vis, TG–DTA, and in situ HT-XRD techniques. It is found that Ti(IV) ions are incorporated into the brucite-like layer and the high positive charge of the layers has no obvious effect on the basal spacing. But the substitution of Ti(IV) for Ni(II) in the layer decreases the thermal stability of the resulting LDH materials.
