Abstract
Screen printed single-walled carbon nanotube sensors are presented which are fabricated upon flexible polyester substrates and are benchmarked against standard screen printed graphite electrodes and additionally commercially available single- and multi-walled carbon nanotube electrodes. The screen printed single-walled carbon nanotube sensors (SW-SPE) are benchmarked using potassium ferrocyanide (II), dopamine, hydrazine and capsaicin and are found to be analytically useful, in particular towards the sensing of capsaicin down to low micromolar levels with a limit of detection (3σ) of 1.9 μM improving on those determined utilising commercially available single- and multi-walled carbon nanotube sensors. These electrodes hold potential for those who have developed electroanalytical methodologies in the laboratory and wish to translate this into the field as the sensors are potentially disposable, highly reproducible and easily mass produced.
