Abstract
Although there have been a number of studies investigating the flows and pressures on a cube using wind tunnel experiments and numerical simulations, there have only been a few actual field experiments conducted. The results of these previous experiments have helped us to clarify the characteristics of surface pressures or wind flows on or around a cube. However, almost all these studies focus on either pressure or flow field only. In this study, a field experiment was arranged where the pressure and flow measurements were carried out simultaneously with a 2.4 m cube on the ground. The velocity field of the approaching flow was observed with a number of anemometers arrayed around the cube that was located in an open area of reclaimed land. The three-dimensional characteristics of the turbulent flows and the fluctuating surface pressures on the cube were examined.
