Abstract
Typical stress–strain curves of Mg-based bulk metallic glass composites (BMGCs) with porous Mo particles do not exhibit apparent flow serration. Even by using high-sensitivity strain gauges, still no apparent displacement burst caused by shear-band propagation is detected. The suppression of flow serration is closely related to the lack of long-range shear-band propagation; only short-range shear-band propagation occurs in the current Mg-based BMGCs. Based on the particle distribution, an effective spacing is applied to rationalize the shear-band propagation.
