  • Abstract
The experiments of simultaneous desulfurization and denitrogenation from flue gas were carried out at a bubbling reactor with Fenton reagent. The effects of reaction temperature, concentration of each component in Fenton reagent, initial pH value, gas flow, and initial concentrations of SO2 and NO in flue gas on the simultaneous removal of SO2 and NO were investigated systematically. The simultaneous removal efficiencies of 100% for SO2 and more than 90% for NO were obtained under the established optimal experimental conditions, i.e., 328 K, 0.02 m3/h (0.1 MPa, 328 K) of flue gas flow, 11.0% (w/w) of H2O2 concentration, 2.8 mmol/L of Fe(II) concentration, and 3.0 of the solution pH. According to the characterizations of the products, the comparison of the standard electrode potentials and the relative references, the reaction mechanism of desulfurization and denitrogenation was revealed. Additionally, a variety of thermodynamic parameters were figured out based on the basic thermodynamic principle to verify the feasibility of the oxidation reactions of SO2 and NO with Fenton reagent.
